Executive Summary
Agrostim™, Agrostim FVO (Farm Verified Organic)™ Supergrow™, and Agroturf™ are natural fertilizers specifically designed to restore the soil’s natural agro-ecosystem. Manufactured by Ecotech LLC and distributed by ANDAMAN, these organic-based products energize soil microbial activity by activating microbial processes critical for conversion of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and sulfur into forms that can be easily absorbed by plants.
The benefits of using these products include increases in yield, reduction in the need of other fertilizers and water, and stimulating marginal agricultural land. In addition, plants treated with these products have shown improved resistance to disease, drought, insects, fungus and nematodes.
Agrostim, Agrostim FVO, Supergrow and Agroturf can be dry shipped and is a foliar so it can be easily applied with a backpack sprayer, commercial sprayer, an irrigation and drip system (fertigation), or airplane.
Field trials on a wide range of plants, in countries around the world, have shown yield increases from 8% to 61% on a wide range of fruit, grains and vegetable plants, including lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, tea, coffee, rice, cotton, grapes, bananas, wheat, orange, mango, peach and papaya. Shelf life, taste of the crop and crop profitability have also shown improvement.
Field studies from countries around the world have corroborated the benefits of using Agrostim, Agrostim FVO, Supergrow and Agroturf, including the following:
- A study on coffee plants in Colombia found the application of Agrostim resulted in more vigorous and larger plants that were ready to harvest earlier than plants in the control group.
- A study on banana plants in Vietnam found those treated with Agrostim displayed significant decreases in attack by microbial pathogens.
- A study on citrus trees in Syria found orange trees treated with Agrostim produced a 45% to 48% increase in yield with improved quality that sold at a 21% increase in price in local agricultural markets.
- A study on pineapples found that the fruit treated with Agrostim was judged sweeter and more nutritious, and the fruit size was larger than the control groups.
- Multiple third-party studies in Vietnam have found that using Agrostim increases quality, yield and disease resistance of plants that include coffee, flowers and rice.
Background
Founded by Deac Jones, ANDAMAN, Inc. is the exclusive worldwide distributor of Agrostim, Agrostim FVO, Supergrow and Agroturf organic-based fertilizers which are manufactured by Ecotech LLC, located in Auburn, California.
Ecotech was founded by Dr. James Erickson who previously worked in the commercial division of the U.S government. In the 1960s and 70s he was stationed at various U.S. Embassies, primarily in Southeast Asia and Latin America. At the time, the U.S. government was concerned about helping developing countries become more stable by growing productive, sustainable agricultural crops for export. Dr. Erickson was involved in evaluating local agricultural practices in order to make the appropriate recommendations to help farmers produce consistent and productive crops. One of the primary challenges involved addressing poor soil conditions so that agriculture production could be sustained over generations.
When Dr. Erickson retired from the government in the 1990s to form Ecotech his objective was to develop a product that could be improve areas with very poor soil conditions and significant concentrations of fungus and disease. In addition, the product needed to travel well and easy to be consistently and efficiently applied.
The product he developed is called Agrostim, which is used in countries around the world, including the U.S., Canada, the UK, Colombia, Vietnam, the PRC, the Philippines, India, Singapore, Syria, Thailand, Guatemala and Malaysia.
In 1999 Dr. James Erickson passed away from heart complications as a result of contracting Dengue Fever twice while working in the tropics. Ecotech is now run and managed by his wife and two sons, one of whom has a degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from the University of California, Davis. ANDAMAN, Inc. had worked with Dr. Erickson helping to establish distribution channels in Asia and after his passing, the company assumed the role of exclusive worldwide distribution.
Ecotech’s products are derived from the highest quality material available. All raw materials are sourced in North America from OMRI certified suppliers except a small portion of micronutrients found in Agrostim™ that are currently not OMRI approved.
